Relatives' room for the paediatric intensive care unit at Dresden University Hospital

Relatives' room for the paediatric intensive care unit at Dresden University Hospital

The paediatric intensive care unit at Universitätsklinikum Dresden provides maximum care for around 800 children and adolescents every year at the highest level. The paediatric intensive care unit has highly trained staff and the latest medical technology. It is the first paediatric intensive care unit in Germany to have a full-time psychologist for patients and their relatives.

What is missing, however, is a lounge for parents, siblings, grandparents and friends! Due to the lack of a lounge, relatives are currently sitting and waiting on chairs in front of the ward between lockers, exposed to all hospital visitors - in highly emotional situations in which relatives need very special protection and security.

The paediatric intensive care unit would therefore like to have a lounge for relatives, a room where relatives are protected from the view of others and can rest if necessary, a room where they can talk to other patients. As the Clinic and Polyclinic of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at Dresden University Hospital does not have any free rooms, a recreation room is being planned on a gallery directly in front of the paediatric intensive care unit - a project that will have to be financed by donations, as no other funds are available for this purpose.

A feasibility study and cost estimate for the construction of the recreation room is available (see attachment). The estimated costs amount to €180,000.

Please support this important project with your donation! Every donation counts. If you have any questions, please contact us at any time.

Thank you very much! Your IntensivZeit e.V.
